Richmond, VA – Rally Virginia, a coalition of women dedicated to advancing commonsense leadership and preserving the values that strengthen our Commonwealth, is reaffirming its call for integrity, accountability, and civility from all individuals seeking or holding public office.
As an organization grounded in patriotism, public safety, and responsible governance, Rally Virginia believes that leadership must be measured not only by policy, but by character. Words and actions matter deeply—both reflect the respect and judgment that citizens rightfully expect from those entrusted with public authority.
“Virginians deserve leaders who uphold the highest standards of conduct,” said Steffani McGurn, a Rally Virginia board member. “Public service is a privilege, not a platform for hostility or personal recklessness. Every candidate and officeholder bears the responsibility to lead with honor, humility, and respect for others,” said Rooz Dadabhoy, President of Rally Virginia.
A Pattern of Disqualification
We, the ladies of Rally Virginia, are calling on Jay Jones to do the right thing and immediately suspend his campaign for Attorney General and withdraw from the race, as recent revelations about Mr. Jones’s conduct demonstrates that he lacks respect both for his peers and the rule of law he intends to defend.
Jones’s rhetoric, not only wishing death on former House Speaker Todd Gilbert but chillingly hoping that his children would die in their mother’s arms, is an instant disqualification for public office.
This rhetoric is not just unacceptable from public officials but is a strike against public decency. No matter who you are, no one has the right to wish violence against people with whom we disagree — no one.
Yet even more shocking than Jones fantasizing about violence is his previous violations of the public trust. Instead of facing the typical punishment for doing an incredible 116/70 on Interstate 64 in January 2022, Jones was able to cut a deal separate from all his other fellow lawbreakers to perform community service to avoid jail time. Yet instead of performing a service to his community, Jones served himself by doing 500 hours of court-mandated community service to his own political action committee.
Jones knows full well this is not in the spirit of a legitimate community service, and his actions demonstrate an arrogant belief that the normal rules do not apply to him.
We cannot have someone who fantasizes about violence only to turn his vehicle into a two-ton weapon on our roads as our next Attorney General.
Rally Virginia remains steadfast in its mission to empower women across the Commonwealth, promoting civic engagement rooted in principle, and supporting leaders who demonstrate moral courage, accountability, and an unwavering respect for the people they serve.
Jay Jones demonstrates none of these values.
Rally Virginia has already proudly endorsed the honorable Jason Miyares for re-election, and now it is clearer than ever that he is the only choice to lead Virginia’s justice system.
